In a recent Financial Times article, petrochemicals billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed frustration with the European Commission’s new regulatory roadblocks that will make EU industry uncompetitive compared to America, China, and the Middle East. “I don’t think anybody’s objecting to the Green Deal,” said Ratcliffe, but added that Brussels should not see the route to decarbonisation through deindustrialisation.
This is the fundamental problem that we at Hydrobe® sought to solve. Our breakthrough technology allows high-emission industries to recycle carbon into saleable by-products without changing their core production processes. High-value by-products introduce an incentive to decarbonise, which should prove to be more motivating than the “regulatory roadblocks” Mr Ratcliffe describes.
